The Italian long-distance coupe.

The GranTurismo is a two-door grand touring coupe, blending performance with long-distance comfort. The first generation (2007 to 2019) was famous for its naturally aspirated 4.2 then 4.7 V8, around 405 to 460 hp, and an exceptional sound. The second generation (code M189) entered production in 2023 with the twin-turbo V6 Nettuno (up to around 550 hp in Trofeo trim) and a fully electric Folgore version.

Which generation to choose?

Generation 1 (2007 to 2019)

The classic coupe with the naturally aspirated 4.2 then 4.7 V8, around 405 to 460 hp. Prized for its sound and the classic Pininfarina shape. More than 40,000 coupes and GranCabrio convertibles were built in total.

Generation 2 Modena and Trofeo (from 2023)

The new generation with the twin-turbo V6 Nettuno: Modena around 490 hp and the stronger Trofeo around 550 hp. A modern chassis and interior.

Generation 2 Folgore (from 2023)

The fully electric GranTurismo with three motors and very high output. The most advanced version, for buyers interested in electric drive.

How does the old GranTurismo differ from the new one?

The first generation (2007 to 2019) has a naturally aspirated V8 with an unmistakable sound. The second generation (from 2023) uses the twin-turbo V6 Nettuno or the electric Folgore drivetrain and is more modern technically, though many buyers still prize the old V8's voice.

What should I check on a first-generation GranTurismo?

The priority is clutch condition and service history, especially on cars with the automated manual gearbox. The leather interior and electronics are also worth checking. The naturally aspirated V8 is durable but needs regular, costly maintenance.

What is the Nettuno engine?

Nettuno is a Maserati-developed twin-turbo 3.0 V6 with a pre-chamber combustion technology drawn from Formula 1. It debuted in the MC20 supercar and, in de-tuned forms, powers the new GranTurismo and the Grecale SUV.
