Toyota Supra.
The 2JZ legend and its modern heir.
The fourth-generation A80, built from 1993 to 2002, is a JDM icon powered by the 2JZ-GTE 3.0 twin-turbo straight-six. Factory output was 280 hp in Japanese trim and up to 330 hp on export markets, while the cast-iron 2JZ block is famous for huge tuning headroom. After a seventeen-year hiatus, the fifth-generation A90 returned in 2019, co-developed with BMW around the B58 3.0 engine. A90 power climbed from 340 to 387 hp, and the 2024 Final Edition reached 435 hp. Both generations are now sought-after collector cars at Japanese auctions.

Which Supra to choose?
A80 2JZ-GTE Twin Turbo
The most desirable fourth-gen variant. 2JZ-GTE 3.0 straight-six with sequential twin-turbo, 280 hp factory in Japanese trim. Offered with the Getrag V160 manual or an automatic. Manual cars with their original engine command the strongest prices.
A80 2JZ-GE Naturally aspirated
The non-turbo version with the 2JZ-GE 3.0 making 220 hp. Cheaper to buy and run, prized by purists who value the lighter nose and simpler build. A sensible entry point into A80 ownership.
A90 GR Supra (B58 3.0)
The 2019 revival, co-developed with BMW. B58 3.0 turbo, 340 to 387 hp, ZF eight-speed automatic. Also offered as a less powerful four-cylinder 2.0. Modern comfort and pace in a classic coupe silhouette.
A90 Final Edition (2024)
The send-off for the A90. B58 uprated to 435 hp with retuned suspension, brakes and aero. The most powerful factory Supra ever, built in limited numbers.
