Mercedes-Maybach from Japanese auctions.
Ultra-luxury above the S-Class.
Mercedes-Maybach is the ultra-luxury brand of Mercedes-Benz, revived in 2015 and positioned above the regular S-Class. The first model was the Maybach S-Class (X222); the line-up now consists of the S-Class saloon (Z223) and the four-seat GLS SUV. The flagship S 680 runs a 6.0 V12 biturbo, while the other versions use the 4.0 V8 biturbo. Cars at Japanese auctions arrive in very high, often bespoke specification.

Why Mercedes Maybach?
Mercedes-Maybach is the top brand within the Mercedes-Benz structure. After a brief spell as a standalone Maybach marque between 2002 and 2013, the name returned in 2015 as a sub-brand, positioned above the regular S-Class and aimed at the segment dominated by Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
The first model of the new era was the Maybach S-Class built on the X222 generation, with an extended wheelbase and a cabin centred on rear-seat comfort. The current Z223 generation develops that direction with extensive electronics, lounge-style seats and rich personalisation options.
The heart of the range is its V-engines. The S 580 uses a 4.0 V8 biturbo with a mild-hybrid assist, while the flagship S 680 runs a 6.0 V12 biturbo. Every version has 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
The second pillar of the line-up is the Maybach GLS, a four-seat luxury SUV based on the GLS (X167). The GLS 600 pairs a 4.0 V8 biturbo with a mild hybrid, 4MATIC drive and a cabin with reclining rear seats and a Burmester sound system.
At Japanese auctions the Mercedes-Maybach surfaces less often than the regular S-Class, but the cars reaching the Japanese used market tend to carry exceptionally rich equipment and low mileage. That makes them an attractive target for an importer seeking a saloon or SUV in the very highest specification.
We verify every car against its auction sheet: overall grade, interior and body condition, and history. With a Maybach we pay particular attention to the completeness of optional equipment, which makes up a significant part of the car's value.
