SL.
The luxury roadster with heritage.
The SL is Mercedes' luxury roadster, with roots reaching back to the 1950s. The R230 (2001–2011) introduced a folding metal roof, the R231 (2012–2020) switched to an aluminium body and lower weight, and the latest R232 (2021 on) returned to a soft top, added all-wheel drive and was developed entirely by AMG. The strongest versions run a biturbo V8, with the SL 63 at the top of the range. The SL appears regularly at Japanese auctions, usually in very generous specification.
