E-Class.
The executive saloon benchmark.
The E-Class is the upper-mid-size executive saloon, blending S-Class comfort and technology with more practical dimensions. The W212 (2009–2016) settled the modern look, the W213 (2016–2023) added large screens and extensive driver aids, and the current W214 (2023 on) took the cabin further into the digital age. The range includes a saloon and a roomy estate, with the Mercedes-AMG E 63 and its biturbo V8 at the top. The E-Class appears very regularly at Japanese auctions across a wide spread of specifications.

Which version to choose?
E 200 / E 250
The entry petrol four-cylinder versions. Cheapest to run and the most common at auction, a sound choice for daily use.
E 350 / E 400
Stronger engines, a V6 in older generations and a turbo straight-six in newer ones. Clearly better performance and refinement.
E 300 de / hybrid
The electrified versions, including the plug-in hybrid. Lower fuel use on urban runs, increasingly common among younger cars.
Mercedes-AMG E 63
The sporting peak with a biturbo V8 and all-wheel drive. A saloon with sports-car performance, also available as an estate.
